Maintaining Dignity with Compassion When it Matters Most

Four Levels of Hospice Care in Aurora & Denver Metro

Understanding the Four Levels of Care

Hospice care is not one size fits all. Patients and families may need different types of support at different times. That is why Medicare defines four levels of hospice care, ensuring every family receives the right kind of help when it matters most.

At Aspen Grove Hospice, we provide all four levels of care to families in Aurora, Denver, Arapahoe, Adams, Douglas, Jefferson, Weld, Boulder, Elbert, and Broomfield Counties.

Hospice Care in Denver CO

The Four Levels of Hospice Care

1 Routine Home Care

The most common level of hospice care. Routine home care provides scheduled visits from nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. Families receive medications, equipment, and supplies to manage care in the home.

2 Continuous Care

For times of crisis when symptoms become difficult to manage, continuous care provides short-term, around-the-clock nursing support in the home until the crisis is resolved.

3 General Inpatient Care

If symptoms cannot be controlled at home, patients may receive care in an inpatient setting such as a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or hospice house. Inpatient care focuses on stabilizing symptoms so the patient can return home when possible.

4 Respite Care

Family caregivers sometimes need a break. Respite care provides short-term inpatient care (up to 5 days) so families can rest, knowing their loved one is fully supported.
